If you go by what Chevrolet claims, the is a Camaro ZL1 is designed to excel at everything. It surely does that in terms of design. It has an aggressive appearance with “flow-tie” grille, a larger front splitter, and all-new hood with a carbon fibre insert and a heat extractor. It also gets a wider front fender compared to the SS and the RS, aggressive side skirts, and a prominent rear wing. Last but not least, the Camaro ZL1 has unique 20-inch forged aluminium wheels with special Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires that were developed specifically for the model.
On the inside, this ZL1 variant isn’t a big departure from the standard variant bit it does get noticeable ZL1 trims. Chevrolet has installed Recaro sport seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a special shifter with suede upholstery.
With its 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine and a claimed 640 horsepower and 840Nm of torque, this is one freakishly fast car. You’ll be spinning wheels all day in the ZL1 and the power delivery is mighty impressive. All that power is transferred to the wheels via an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission which Chevrolet claims is faster at shifting cogs than Porsche PDK transmission.
Don’t be fooled into thinking this car just goes fast in a straight line. It hugs corners like a sportscar should and the grip is phenomenal. The ZL1 comes equipped with Chevrolet’s Magnetic Ride Control suspension, Brembo brakes and an electronic limited-slip differential. Other highlights include a Performance Traction Management system, a Driver Mode Selector and a launch control function.
The ZL1 is the fastest and the most powerful Camaro you can get in this region. With no official word on the ZL1 1LE being available in the Middle East, the ZL1 is the current go to car if you need a Camaro that lights up the race track and then drives you home with all the creature comforts you expect.
