Chinese state-owned auto manufacturer FAW has hired the talents of Giles Taylor, former Director of Design of Rolls Royce Motor Cars. Taylor will join the Chinese automaker as its Global Vice President of Design as well as its Chief Creative Officer.

As per reports, Taylor will provide his services from the company’s new Advanced Design Center in Munich. Apart from that, he will also be joined by a team which will undertake projects involving futuristic designs for its upcoming models.

According to FAW's Chairman Liuping Xu, hiring Taylor will provide the company with a more internationalised, specialised and diversified team.

Taylor, along with his team will also look into a designing of the company’s luxury wing Hongqi. “I am very much looking forward to embarking on an exciting new career path with FAW. Hongqi, as the oldest and most famous Chinese car brand, carries with it a deeply significant and diverse cultural history. There are many inspirational elements surrounding the marque with which to create fresh, modern vehicles for the new era. I look forward to working with the FAW Executive team to deliver this fascinating mission for HONGQI as well as exciting future products for FAW,” said Taylor.

Giles Taylor is a Royal College of Art in London alumnus and completed his graduation in vehicle design discipline in 1992. Post which, he provided his services for Jaguar for nearly 13 years holding a position of Chief Designer for cars such as the XK and the XJ. He joined Rolls Roye in the year 2011 where he held a position of Director of Design.

Taylor will also be joined by a team which will undertake projects involving futuristic designs for its upcoming models.

According to FAW’s Chairman Liuping Xu, hiring Taylor will provide the company with a more internationalised, specialised and diversified team. “Mr Taylor is familiar with Hongqi and Chinese culture. He possesses a deep understanding of this brand. His rich experiences in the design of high-end luxury cars and his insight into the trend of global designs and innovations highly match the brand positioning, product layout and future planning of FAW and Hongqi. I believe, his joining will help Hongqi achieve the target of building a ‘new noble brand’ – the best in China and famous around the world,” added Xu
