Oman is getting ready to host trade, transport, and logistics experts from across the world at the upcoming International Road Transport Union (IRU) World Congress. It bears the title ‘Innovation On The Move’.

The IRU World Congress will be held from the 6th to the 8th of November at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. Government ministers, business executives, and logistics experts will come together at the IRU-WC to discuss and explore innovative solutions on road transport and trade.

The event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, the Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman. The congress is organized by IRU and co-hosted by ASYAD Group and Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications.

The speakers at the event include André Borschberg, co-founder and CEO and Pilot of Solar Impulse, Dr Rand Hindi, entrepreneur and Founder of, Jim Carroll, futurist and innovation expert, Abdul Malik Al Balushi, CEO of Oman Post, and Ahmed Al Balushi, CEO of Mwasalat. They will be joined by over 60 industry speakers.

The global delegate list is impressive and expected to cross 1,000 attendees from 100 countries. Prominent firms include Volvo, AXA, PWC, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, and IBM, which will be joined by transport associations from more than 30 countries including Belgium, Switzerland, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Ukraine, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and the UAE.

Plenary sessions will focus on innovation, governance, and business processes. To complement the session, key players in the industry will be showcasing their latest innovations in road transport at the Congress. The event will also feature an innovation alley including a startup competition sponsored and hosted by Road Ventures SA.
