Global EVRT is back for another road trip for electric cars in the Middle East. Chevrolet has partnered up again with the outfit, pitching the Bolt EV as the Official Electric Vehicle Partner for the annual event.

The EVRT Middle East will kick off on 17 January 2019. Chevrolet launched the Bolt EV at the EVRT Middle East 2018 in the region following an announcement at the Dubai International Motor Show, 2017. The partnership marks another milestone with Chevrolet Bolt EV which is now on sale nationwide in the UAE and other Middle Eastern markets.

Ben Pullen, CEO and Co-Founder of Global Electric Vehicle Road Trip said, “We are delighted to have Chevrolet confirmed once again as a partner to join the Electric Vehicle Road Trip Middle East 2019. The Chevrolet Bolt EV is a game-changer in the electric vehicles market particularly when it comes to its best-in-class 520km range and will help dispel common misconceptions that electric vehicles can’t drive long distances.”

“Electric vehicle range anxiety is a thing of the past,” says EVRT Middle East.

The EVRT Middle East is an eight-day adventure spanning over 2,000km from the Abu Dhabi, UAE to Muscat, Oman. The mission of the outing is to inspire transformation to smarter mobility. On 18 January, the electric fleet will drive a distance of 540km from the capital of the UAE to the capital of Oman. This will allow the Chevrolet Bolt EV to demonstrate its performance credentials in a real-world situation. “Electric vehicle range anxiety is a thing of the past,” according to EVRT Middle East.

Over the last five years, electric vehicles have moved from design houses to the streets. They are seeing an increasing buzz around the value they offer as a package. Why, some EVs now offer a driving range of up to 600km compared to their paltry output of 80km five years ago. Imagine what they will be like five years down the line!

In addition to the steadily developing electric cars, the UAE has also been supportive of the technology. With more than 370 charging stations spread across the nation, the UAE is currently the fifth most densely populated charging destination in the world. Gary D. West, General Motors’ Head of Future Mobility Middle East, said: “Last year, the EVRT Middle East gave car enthusiasts a first look at our Chevrolet Bolt EV as it was put to the test driving over 1,750km from the UAE to Oman and back. The Chevrolet Bolt EV has proven it can tackle any real-world driving situation and we look forward to welcoming new EVRT Middle East participants this year to experience the car’s outstanding green credentials themselves.”

The EVRT Middle East Challenge pits teams with their electric vehicles against each other on the range and efficiency optimization front. There will be plenty of opportunities to prove your technical prowess and experience the Chevrolet Bolt EV as the EVRT Middle East cruises along silently. It will start from the drag strips at the Yas Marina Circuit, cross the desert, scale the highest mountain of the UAE, and travel along the winding coastal roads overlooking the Gulf of Oman.
