Dubai police have once again grabbed the headlines with an addition to their popular fleet of vehicles. The latest addition is Chevrolet’s crowned SUV Tahoe, which has been tweaked in multiple ways to be one of the most advanced police vehicles on the planet.
The ‘Ghiath’, as the authorities call it, was revealed to us through a video that was posted on the official Facebook page of Dubai Police. The front and rear clips have got a fresh new makeover to portray its own design. However, most of the side profile is retained with new interior switchgear.
The car features facial recognition technology which can identify individuals from the car. The car is directly connected to the Dubai Police Command Operations Room. In the video, a set of touchscreens in the dashboard relays vast amounts of information along with the central cluster that has been replaced with another touchscreen.
One of the officers in the video is seen selecting the ‘Fast’ mode from the screen. However, we are not clear what it does. Other options include options for the strobe lights and more.
The craftsmanship on the ‘Ghiath’ was undertaken by W Motors, which we recall to have built the Lykan Hypersport. The touchscreens and other computer gadgets come from Safe City Group, an Abu Dhabi-based computer security company.
The Dubai police’s famous fleet consists of some of the world’s most sought-after supercars including the Aston Martin One-77, Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari LaFerrari, and many more. Apart from wheels on the road, the department was also reported to have begun the testing of trial hoverbikes as yet another wild addition to its fleet.
