The GMC Acadia is nearing the midpoint of its lifecycle, and GMC has given it quite the makeover for 2020. Bolder design, new features, and a new trim level will be added to the Acadia’s repertoire for 2020.
GMC has given the Acadia a fresh design that falls in line with its modern design language. For a midlife facelift, the job looks pretty well executed. The Acadia, in short, has grown butch and confident.

What’s new about the 2020 GMC Acadia?
Firstly, the design is all-new. GMC has given a square-jawed grille to the Acadia that looks like it was pulled straight off the 2020 GMC Sierra full-size pickup. The grille’s size is accentuated by slim new LED headlamps. At the rear, taillamps are all-LED and more chiselled, covering a bigger area than before.
GMC has also showcased a new AT4 trim that adds more distinction with black trim and wheels, and a set of all-terrain tyres to increase the Acadia’s off-road capability. With GMC Acadia AT4, you also get all-wheel-drive as standard.
Any new engines?
The 2020 GMC Acadia gets one of two carryover engines, or a new 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four that makes 230hp and 350Nm. This engine can deactivate two of its cylinders for increased fuel efficiency. SLT and Denali trims of the Acadia will get this engine as standard.
Of the carryovers, one is a 2.5-litre inline-four producing 193hp and 255Nm. The other is a naturally aspirated 3.6-litre V6 good for 310hp and 367Nm. GMC is equipping the Acadia AT4 with the V6 as standard.
All Acadia trims get a nine-speed automatic transmission that ditches the current car’s mechanical shift lever in favour of an electronic shifter. The centre console features buttons and triggers from the GMC Terrain, freeing up a lot of space between the seats.

There are some more details and upgrades GMC has introduced to the three-row crossover. The suspension has been uprated for increased comfort, there is a new infotainment system with a bigger touchscreen, USB-C inputs, and customizable profiles. Wireless phone charging is an available option. The updated 2020 GMC Acadia will go on sale later this year, with pricing details available upon launch.
