GMC has announced the 2019 Terrain’s arrival in the Middle East. Alongside minute tweaks on the outside, the new GMC Terrain comes with a wide range of safety options and two new turbocharged options for the engines.
At the outset, the new GMC faithfully inherits the same design from the outgoing model. It gets a new grille and more LED lighting in the front. The SLE trim sits on 17-inch wheels while the SLE AWD and SLT comes with 18-inchers. A rung up the ladder will get you the Denali models that get 19-inch aluminium wheels.
At the front, the new GMC Terrain gets more chrome on the grille.
On the inside, GMC has graced the Terrain with a handful of elements that can up the premium feel- authentic aluminium trim, soft-touch materials on the instrument panel and doors, the works. GMC claims the Terrain has a silent cabin thanks to new Active Sound Cancellation technology.
For a few extra bucks, the Denali models get a bit more of the American luxury. This includes standard features such as ventilated front seats, Skyscape power sunroof, Bose Premium 7-speaker surround system and a hands-free programmable power liftgate. Standard throughout the Terrain’s trims is a 7-inch and optional 8-inch infotainment system that ships Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The engines on the new Terrain is where things get a bit interesting. Buyers of the 2019 GMC Terrain can choose between two turbocharged petrol engines including the 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre for stronger acceleration and better performance. The 1.5-litre turbo DOHC engine churns out 170hp through a Hydra-Matic nine-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the 2.0-litre engine puts out 252hp through the same transmission.
The new infotainment system boasts Android Auto as well as a Apple CarPlay.
Keeping the Terrain young and on par with its rivals is a new set of safety features. Coming as standard across all models are HD Rear Vision Camera, Surround Vision, Forward Collision Alert with Following Distance Indicator, Low-Speed Forward Automatic Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert. In addition to this, the Terrain also gets Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Safety Alert Driver Seat, and Front Pedestrian Braking.
Prices for the 2019 GMC Terrain start from AED 93,700 while the Denali variants begin from AED 141,700 in the UAE.
