Barely a week has passed since Lamborghini revealed the sensational Huracan EVO Spyder. The general consensus would have been that this car is the ultimate you can get in open-top motoring. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster, however, is here to prove you wrong.

Without further ado, here are the numbers. 759hp out of a naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine, zero to 100kph in 2.9 seconds, 350kph at full chat. Lamborghini also managed to keep the weight gain limited to 50kg over the record-setting SVJ Coupe.

LaFerrari Aperta now has a vicious challenger in the SVJ Roadster.

The good news doesn’t end here. The Raging Bull says that chopping the supercar’s roof off hasn’t messed with its active aerodynamics. Downforce is up by 40 percent compared to the Aventador SV Roadster. Lamborghini might have favoured two 6-kilo removable roof panels over absolute performance, but you still get those aero-vectoring wings that channel airflow across the car as you corner either side. The wings also assume a fixed position when the SVJ Roadster is barrelling down a long straight. Benefitting from reduced drag, the car achieves 200kph in 8.8 seconds.

The technology, courtesy of ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva), is mind-boggling and effective at the same time. All the capability on proud display makes you wonder how fast it would go around a racetrack. But in all fairness, a car like Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster is best enjoyed down a long tunnel with the top down and engine screaming away to glory.

Lamborghini says, “The high-mounted lightweight naked exhaust produces the most emotive sound from the SVJ Roadster’s engine, adding to the experience of the roadster’s occupants.” There was no doubt about the engine’s aural range ever since it debuted in 2013, powering the Aventador.

Only a Lamborghini is capable of producing a stunning photo however you click it.

As for technology, there is no dearth of clever gimmickry aboard the Roadster. You get magnetic adaptive dampers, four driving modes, and the stickiest Pirelli tyres to lay all the power down on the road. Lamborghini has also added a nifty feature to the Aventador SVJ Roadster. A rear window lowering button ensures that you are treated to a glorious soundtrack from the thundering V12 sitting behind you.

At 1,575kg, the SVJ Roadster boasts of an impressive power-to-weight ratio. Only 800 of these mental cars will be made, each one costing between AED 1,800,000 to AED 2,500,000.
