The third edition of Middle East EVRT was a grand success, with participants traveling across the UAE and Oman for close to 2,000km. The road trip commenced and concluded with eMobility Forums organized by Global EVRT.

Global EVRT (Electric Vehicle Road Trip) organizes road trips, forums, and exhibitions that are designed to bring manufacturers and businesses in the EV industry closer to their target customers.

AMENA Auto partnered with Global EVRT to make Middle East EVRT a successful undertaking. Accompanied by key regional automotive players, the road trip brought a lot of knowledge and insights regarding electric vehicles. A lot of misconceptions about EVs were also erased through the course of this trip.

Alan Whaley, Chairman of AMENA Automotive, has been in the automotive industry for over 22 years. His motive behind founding AMENA is to bring key players in the regional automotive industry under one common roof.

The aim is to drive growth and prosperity in the region through a partnership-led professional culture. Be it manufacturers, suppliers, dealers, or online platforms- AMENA invites all to collaborate for a thriving future of mobility in the Middle East and North Africa.

Ben Pullen, CEO of Global EVRT, had nothing but glowing words about the new partnerships his firm secured through Middle East EVRT. “The level of professionalism, combined with the energy and dynamism, is exactly what we need for these types of events.” Pullen’s initiative has resulted in wider knowledge and acceptance of electric vehicles in the Middle East.

Dr. Petar Stojanov, Managing Partner at Ebtikaar, has had a diverse career ranging from academics to quantum physics to entrepreneurship. Lending his knowledge regarding the finer details about modern, seamless electric mobility solutions, Dr. Stojanov made significant contributions through his address at eMobility Forums set up by Global EVRT at the start and end of Middle East EVRT.

YallaMotor, an AMENA Trusted Partner, was instrumental in gathering real-world data regarding EVs through a survey on its online domain. From 3,081 responses recorded on the survey, a number of insights and calculated forecasts can be drawn, all painting a positive picture of the flourishing electric car industry in the Middle East and North Africa. Jorge Bialade, General Manager of YallaMotor, predicted that EV adoption is only just beginning to gain momentum. In the coming couple of years, more and more motorists will opt for EVs rather than conventional ICE cars.

However, if such a scale of EV adoption were to succeed, it would need infrastructure to support the number of new electric cars on the road. This is where Green Parking comes in. The firm was one of the partners of Middle East EVRT, offering its facilities of charging electric vehicles on the road trip. Sam Alawiye, CEO of Green Parking, said that the firm was floated nine years ago, and secured the backing of DEWA (Dubai Electricity & Water Authority) in 2015. Currently, Green Parking commands an 80 percent market share in the number of smart chargers installed across the UAE and Oman.

Middle East EVRT will be back next year, bigger and better than before. In the meanwhile, our region is moving ever closer to full-scale EV adoption for sustainable and safe mobility in the future. Events like the ones conducted by Global EVRT, and supported by regional stakeholders like AMENA Auto, YallaMotor, Ebtikaar, and Green Parking have a significant bearing upon shifting the perception of consumers regarding electromobility.
