Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli has appointed Alberico Avogadro as General Manager for its Middle Eastern operations. Spanning his services across the Benelux region, North-East Europe and Egypt in Marketing and Sales, Avogadro has served Pirelli for close to 22 years now.
Commenting on his appointment, Avogadro said: “I’m excited by the challenge that lies ahead. The Middle East market, particularly the UAE and GCC, is extremely competitive and requires a very specific approach to engage our preferred audiences. Pirelli’s world-renowned engineering and technological innovations together with our commitment to service excellence will continue to push us forward and drive our growth.

“Our strong partnerships with key distributors will continue to play a crucial role as we anticipate the needs of our clients and consumers, and we will be utilising the latest advanced geo-marketing tools to carefully define the best locations to develop our retail,” he added.
Ahead of his appointment in the Middle East, Avogadro was overseeing the firm’s mission to roll out new customer-focused services that enhance the tyre buying experience in the key UAE Prestige and Premium segments and across the region.
After assuming the role, Avogadro will lead a team focused on developing new strategic partnerships and increasing brand recognition. A graduate in Economics, Avogadro joined Pirelli’s marketing department back in 1996. In his two-decade carrier at the Italian company, he is reputed to have developed a strong international business background. In addition to this. prior to taking the reins in the Middle East, Avogadro also managed Pirelli’s Business Moto unit in the Asia-Pacific region.

The brand who enjoys solid Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partnerships with leading luxury car brands has been eyeing the Middle Eastern market for a while now. Earlier in January, the company inaugurated a brand new P Zero World Store in Dubai.
The flagship store is only the fourth in the world after Los Angeles. Munich, and Monte Carlo. The company has always summarized the P Zero World concept as a ‘boutique for tyres.’ In other words, P Zero World is a shop for customers to find Pirelli’s most exclusive products along with services dedicated to the exotica of automobiles, be it luxury, performance, or both.
There is a huge passion for cars in Dubai, making it the second-most important car market in the GCC, after only Saudi Arabia. The country also projects growth of four to five per cent in luxury car sales over the next few years.
