MG Motor has taken the wraps off its RX8 SUV which will soon be launched across the Middle East region. This will be British-born auto brand’s first seven-seater SUV. The RX8 will reach showrooms in the Middle East by September, the company has stated. You can expect prices for the MG RX8 to begin at $21,850 for the entry level trim and go up to $25,700 for the range-topping trim. From the looks of it, this appears to be a badge-engineered version of the Roewe RX8, a product from MG Motor’s Chinese parent SAIC Motor.
MG states that the RX8 will sport the longest wheelbase in its segment, as it forays into a market space it hasn’t explored previously. The seven-seater SUV comes is a fully-equipped 4×4 featuring six driving modes. It comes underpinned by a ladder frame chassis that MG says is capable of handling the toughest off-road terrain. It will be powered a 2.0-liter turbo engine which produces 220 horsepower.

Inside, the RX8 cabin sports a modular interior with adjustable rear seats, as well as what the company says is the most spacious third row in the segment. Further, the interior also comes laden with premium materials such as wood grain soft-touch trim to lend it a premium feel. Adding a modern touch are features including a 10-inch touchscreen in-car entertainment system, ventilated seats and wireless mobile device charging capabilities. These are all things that can come in handy for those with an active lifestyle.
"For the first time in our 95-year history MG Motor is introducing a seven-seat SUV. With the all-new MG RX8, we are making a bold move into a segment we’ve never operated in before, and I am confident that this car will make an impact amongst its competitors." Tom Lee, SAIC Motor Regional Director.

Lee also spoke of the company’s larger plans for the region. “2019 sees us introduce three fantastic new products to the Middle East – the MG RX8, MG HS and MG5. With these new products, our Middle East model line-up is stronger and more appealing than ever. The MG brand is growing in the region, and across the globe; our total global sales for the first half of 2019 exceeded 120,000 units,” he said.
He added: “As we enter the unchartered territory for the brand with the new RX8 I am confident that we can offer a robust, practical and well-equipped SUV in a segment which is remarkably popular here in the Middle East.”
