The new Nissan Patrol has been spotted several times undergoing testing. This set of spy phots is the clearest yet, the car in them said to be in Platinum trim level. Launch is expected to be sometime this month (September 2019).
The 2020 Nissan Patrol receives a new front grille bracketed by redesigned headlights. The taillamps also appear to have a new design, with a chrome bar joining them. The interior also gets a major refresh despite wearing a familiar design.
Redesigned exterior, feature-loaded interior, and slight dimensional updates are expected on the 2020 Nissan Patrol.
Foremost is the new dual-screen setup inside the new Patrol. While the screens are off, probability is high that the top screen is for infotainment while the bottom unit handle climate controls. The second change is the gear lever which appears to be designed to offer better ergonomics. A new drive mode selector sits close to the central armrest. The centre console seems to have lesser buttons than before, which could mean their functions are now incorporated into one of the screens.
Powertrain details are not yet available, but the current Patrol’s range of engines are expected to power the new one. These include the entry-level 4.0-litre V6, 5.6-litre V8, and a NISMO variant. Power outputs for the three powertrains are rated at 275hp, 400hp, and 428hp respectively. Whether the NISMO trim will make a return is unclear for now, but it’s safe to say the other two engines are here to stay.
Nissan seems to have simplified the Patrol's centre console by adding two screens to handle infortainment and climate control.
Nissan has been selling two body types of the Patrol in the UAE. The Patrol Safari (Y61) is aimed at enthusiasts that like to take their SUVs off the beaten track, while the bigger Y62 Patrol is an outright luxury cruiser. Nissan is expected to continue selling the Y61 alongside the new successor of the Y62.
