Nissan unveiled the new Patrol today in Abu Dhabi, choosing a location that is a stronghold for the Japanese automaker’s flagship SUV. The 2020 Nissan Patrol is the vehicle of choice for the royal family of Abu Dhabi. As such, Nissan couldn’t have chosen a better place to pull the wraps off the Patrol’s latest iteration.

Legacy

The new Patrol features a striking new design with all-new full-LED lighting at both ends. The front LED DRL signature accentuates the imposing stance of the full-size SUV, while the rear lighting shows you that it is definitely a Patrol you’re looking at. The LED inserts are new, however.

Rest assured that despite the redesign, Nissan hasn’t taken away the Patrol’s “Go Anywhere” capabilities and class-leading power. Being an icon of Nissan’s SUV heritage, it commands a solid fan following spanning generations, beginning way back from its 1951 debut. Close to 1.9 million Patrols have found approving owners till date.

“Patrol is one of our longest-standing and most cherished models with a long and proud heritage,” said Joni Paiva, regional vice-president, AMI region. “The new Nissan Patrol represents the peak of luxury and ultimate capability and will continue to provide authentic experiences to its loyal customers in the Middle East and around the world.”

Characterrised by a domineering front fascia, the 2020 Nissan Patrol adds a touch of contemporary design to its timeless appeal.

Thierry Sabbagh, Managing Director, Nissan Middle East said, “The story of Nissan Patrol in the Gulf dates to the very first iteration of this legendary four–wheel drive when it first appeared in Kuwait. It was the start of a love affair between the desert people of the Arabian Peninsula and the Patrol that exists, to this day. In a region steeped in tradition, yet steered by the future, it was only fitting to host the global launch of the new Patrol in the Middle East.”

Interior

The new Nissan Patrol features a revamped interior that is more intuitive and simplistic than before. However, it does not skimp on features, offering more than the outgoing iteration. Dual screens handle climate control and infotainment, freeing up the clutter created by buttons. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are incorporated into the infotainment setup. Diamond-stitched quilted leather seats with added padding and a hand-stitched steering wheel cover add a touch of luxury to the very well-appointed cabin.

Nissan has worked on making the new Patrol’s cabin quieter, and improved the cooling and air flow distribution systems. This has led to the cabin cooling down quicker than before, ideal for hot climates like the Middle East.

Of the various things left unchanged is the sheer size of the SUV, giving off an aura of power, presence, and undeniable style.

Powertrain & Safety

In addition to the Nissan Intelligent Mobility package, the 2020 Patrol also comes with Intelligent Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning System.

The 2020 Nissan Patrol’s all-terrain capability comes from a range of engines, starting with a 4.0-litre V6 that makes 275hp and 394Nm. Next up is the popular 5.6-litre V8 that makes 400hp and a healthy 560Nm. Four-wheel-drive is standard with switchable modes depending on the terrain you are faced with. Hydraulic Body Motion Control is available on V8 models, ensuring a more comfortable ride thanks to improved suspension and reduction in vibration.

The 2020 Nissan Patrol is now available across all dealers in the Middle East at prices starting from AED 199,900, inclusive of VAT.
