The highly anticipated Jeep Gladiator – Jeep’s first pickup truck in a lot of years – is set to make its regional debut at the popular Liwa Festival taking place in Abu Dhabi’s Liwa desert. The event will run from 26th December to 10th January.
Liwa Festival is the region’s largest off-road gathering, and as such will attract the exact crowd Jeep wants to market its newest SUV to. The festival will serve as the ideal platform to showcase the Gladiator’s capability, boosting its impact in the regional market.
A challenging Jeep Trail will be part of the attractions at the Festival where SUV owners will get to see the capabilities of their cars as well as the all-new Jeep Gladiator.
Attracting more than a million automotive enthusiasts from across the GCC and beyond, the Liwa Festival is held at the foot of the Tal Moreeb (Moreeb Dune). With a peak sitting 300m above sea level, the Moreeb dune is the tallest sand dune in the UAE, offering extreme gradients of up to 50 degrees. The dune attracts off-road drivers from across the region to take on the challenge of making it to the top of its imposing face.
The Middle Eastern market will receive a limited run of 300 Launch Edition Rubicon models of the Gladiator with unique badging, wheels, and interior accents. A purpose-built obstacle course will be one of the Liwa festival’s premier attractions, inviting SUV owners to cross the ultimate Jeep trail. The trail will be designed to test the vehicles’ capabilities, articulation, and rigidity.
Jeep debuted the Gladiator pickup earlier in 2019, finally answering the call of hordes of its ardent fans, owners, and enthusiasts. The Gladiator is unmistakably a Jeep with its seven-slat grille, familiar front fascia, boxy bodywork, and overall rugged attitude. Viewed head-on, one can mistake the pickup with the Wrangler SUV. Indeed, the Gladiator is largely based on the iconic SUV, yet brings a lot more practicality to the table with its extended wheelbase and load bed.
The Wrangler-based Jeep Gladiator has been a long time coming. The American automaker finally brought it to the streets in early 2019.
The 2020 Jeep Gladiator will arrive in the UAE to expand the Jeep lineup which includes cars like the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Renegade, and Compass. It will compete against the likes of GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, and Toyota Tacoma.
