While BMW has its M division, and Mercedes-Benz sells fast cars through AMG, Audi has an equally exciting performance arm: RS. And the factory tuning division is now 25 years old.
To celebrate the silver jubilee, Audi Sport RS has announced an Anniversary Package tailored to some of its models. Drawing inspiration from the first-ever Audi Sport RS-tuned car, the Audi RS2 Avant, the 25 Years package is available for Audi TT RS Coupe, RS4 Avant, RS5 Coupe, RS5 Sportback, RS6 Avant, and RS7 Sportback.
Audi has chosen the RS2's signature Nogaro Blue paint to be featured as the colour of choice on its anniversary special edition RS models.
“All our RS models are strong characters. The RS2 Avant from 1994 already represented our philosophy of a strong performance, individuality, and full everyday usability. This is the basis of our success story,” says Oliver Hoffmann, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH. “For our anniversary package, we placed the focus on individuality. The exterior and interior make reference to our first RS model, the RS2 Avant.”
Just like the original RS2 Avant, Audi is offering all these cars painted in Nogaro Blue paired with blue Alcantara accents inside the cabin. The cars are also available in Glacier White, Nardo Gray, and Mythos Black.
Matte aluminium accents are peppered on the outside, combined with glossy black surfaces. An RS Anniversary logo showing “25” is projected onto the road when the front doors are opened. The same badge can be found on the centre of the wheels, finished in a two-tone look combining gloss anthracite with silver.
The anniversary theme is continued on the inside, with blue accents offering a subtle contrast to the predominantly black interior.
Inside, Cobal Blue accents in Alcantara are used for the floor mat piping as well as the 12 o’clock marking on the steering wheel. For the TT RS, RS4, and both RS5 models, the bucket seats are finished in Nappa leather with Alcantara centre panels. The bigger RS6 and RS7 get perforated Valcona leather with a blue shade in the perforation. Rounding off the changes are the “25” logos on the door cards, seats, and floor mats.
Mechanically, the Anniversary RS models are identical to their regular counterparts. That means all these cars are capable of astounding performance both on the racetrack and off it, thanks to their powerful engines and Quattro AWD systems. Audi Sport has begun offering the 25 Years Anniversary Package on select RS models now, and will continue to offer it through 2020.
