Jeep has launched its first “Desert Rated” vehicle in the Middle East, ready for an intensified cruise on the desert, the 2021 Gladiator Sand Runner. Its ultimate high-speed off-road capability is courtesy of the brand’s 4×4 system and significant suspension upgrades. Gladiator Sand Runner’s “Desert Rated” badge is the product of the extensive testing from the intrusive sand. And the addition of the gruelling desert terrain established its durability and protection.

Its new FOX™ 64-mm (2.5-inch) internal bypass shocks with external reservoirs help withstand the extreme rides in the desert. It is also equipped with industry-exclusive FOX™ front hydraulic jounce bumpers. These are combined with the race-proven technology and additional damping force suspension that softens impact in harsh off-road conditions. In addition, a 25-mm (1-inch) front suspension and stronger axles with cast-iron steering knuckles adds reinforcement in high-speed drives.  An aggressive front seat with integrated upper bolsters and standard 33-inch tires completes the hype for an impressive performance.

The proven powertrain for sheer excitement

With the specially tuned durable suspension, Jeep Gladiator Sand Runner is also designed for a proven powertrain. Under its hood is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. It is also engineered with a broad torque band that focuses on low-end torque, especially off-roading. Gladiator Sand Runner is also installed with an engine stop-start (ESS) technology and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

For the next level of tractive capabilities, the vehicle has an Off-Road+ system. This allows the automatic adjustment of the throttle, transmission, shift points, and traction control. When in 4HI, drivers can turn the Off-Road+ on for high-speed 4×4 sand driving. The Gladiator’s Command-Trac 4×4 system showcases a two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. This has been paired with a third-generation, heavy-duty Dana 44 front and rear axles with a 4.10:1 rear axle ratio and electronic-locking rear differential.
