“Desert Rated” performance drive for off-road tracks

Jeep has launched its first “Desert Rated” vehicle in the Middle East, ready for an intensified cruise on the desert, the 2021 Gladiator Sand Runner. Its ultimate high-speed off-road capability is courtesy of the brand’s 4×4 system and significant suspension upgrades. Gladiator Sand Runner’s “Desert Rated” badge is the product of the extensive testing from the intrusive sand. And the addition of the gruelling desert terrain established its durability and protection.

Its new FOX™ 64-mm (2.5-inch) internal bypass shocks with external reservoirs help withstand the extreme rides in the desert. It is also equipped with industry-exclusive FOX™ front hydraulic jounce bumpers. These are combined with the race-proven technology and additional damping force suspension that softens impact in harsh off-road conditions. In addition, a 25-mm (1-inch) front suspension and stronger axles with cast-iron steering knuckles adds reinforcement in high-speed drives.  An aggressive front seat with integrated upper bolsters and standard 33-inch tires completes the hype for an impressive performance.

Its overwhelming power is adorned with dark shadow gray finish.

The proven powertrain for sheer excitement

With the specially tuned durable suspension, Jeep Gladiator Sand Runner is also designed for a proven powertrain. Under its hood is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. It is also engineered with a broad torque band that focuses on low-end torque, especially off-roading. Gladiator Sand Runner is also installed with an engine stop-start (ESS) technology and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

For the next level of tractive capabilities, the vehicle has an Off-Road+ system. This allows the automatic adjustment of the throttle, transmission, shift points, and traction control. When in 4HI, drivers can turn the Off-Road+ on for high-speed 4×4 sand driving. The Gladiator’s Command-Trac 4×4 system showcases a two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. This has been paired with a third-generation, heavy-duty Dana 44 front and rear axles with a 4.10:1 rear axle ratio and electronic-locking rear differential.

The Sand Runner is powered by 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque.

Exceptionally stylish, distinctively stunning

The system’s overwhelming power is paired with Gladiator Sand Runner’s exceptional style and distinctive features. Undeniably, desert oasis has gained a refined vehicle with premium finishes and soft-touch surfaces. The exterior is all but a shout of aggressive performance with its dark shadow grey finish and orange decal. The unique 17 x 7.5-inch wheels of the Sand Runner are not hard to miss. Even the adjacent rugged step sand sliders complement the entirety of the bodywork.

Its hood is carved with a centre scoop that supports the fold-down windshield for a wide-open drive. And most importantly, the exterior includes the notable “Desert Rated” badging. Its interior is quite stunning with a cloth or leather-trimmed seats accented with orange stitches. A “Sand Runner” logo is embroidered on its front seat with integrated upper bolsters. This completes the interior elegance of the car and ensures comfortability and in-place ride during high-speed off-road driving.

Sand Runner has established its high performance to earn the “Desert Badge” in five categories: Traction, Desert Prowess, Ride Control and Stability, Maneuverability, and Ground Clearance.

A “Desert Rated” worthy vehicle

Every Gladiator Sand Runner has developed and established its power in 5 categories that gave its “Desert Rated” badge. Traction enhanced the strategic managing and deliverance of power of the Sand Runner in surfaces like sand, gravel, and loose dirt with utmost confidence. The Desert Prowess advanced the capacity of the vehicle to withstand the desert environment with its intense heat, coarse sand, loose gravel, and intrusive dust.

Meanwhile, Ride Control and Stability proved that Sand Runner can comfortably do a ground-breaking Desert-tuned suspension in the desert terrain. The Maneuverability category allows the Sand Runner to be the driver’s extension when navigating the terrain and climbing extreme angles. The quickness and the responsiveness of the Sand Runner have been developed in this category. Lastly, Ground Clearance maximizes the clearance that a Sand Runner can drive with an optimized suspension. These five categories have reinforced the high-performing capacity of the vehicle.

2021 Jeep Gladiator Sand Runner is taking the extremes to a different level. We have to admit this isn’t an ordinary off-road vehicle. Its power in desert terrains under intense heat makes this a must-try. Priced between Dhs 220,000 to 250, 000 on the showroom floors, Gladiator Sand Runner is a Desert Rated vehicle for a reason.
